Today we learned that if you don’t have time to venture off into the woods in search of Bigfoot, you can head into your backyard and look for green woolen Garden Apes instead. Belgian filmmaking duo Emma De Swaef and Marc James Roels of Marc & Emma created this awesome short film using live-action puppeteering to depict the life of an inquisitive felted green gorilla exploring his lush surroundings, which happen to be someone else’s garden.
The enchanting video is part of a promotional campaign for Wonderlijk Wild (Miraculously Wild), an effort to encourage more natural home gardening in Belgium.
We don’t know if Garden Gorillas are only native to Belgium, so we’re going to start keeping an eye out for them in our own yards. Less talk, more wild woolen apes frolicking in our gardens, petting hedgehogs and snails and playing in piles of leaves.
