Veteran’s Day Musing by my Uncle

I have previously shared musings by my story-teller uncle.  Here’s his birthday/veteran story.

I Like Chocolate Cake:
Typhoons in Southeast Asia are a common
occurrence and during typhoon season we were constantly evacuating our
C-130’s from Okinawa to other Islands. My 20th birthday fell on one of
these typhoon evacuations. We went to Mactan Island in the Philippines.
If not for the typhoon I wouldn’t remember that birthday.
My 21st
birthday was in Vietnam. I remember it well and think of it often. A
couple of days before my birthday I got a package from home. My Mom had
made me a chocolate cake with extra homemade chocolate icing. I shared
it with two of my buddies. We ate the whole cake In about five minutes
and washed it down with Budweiser. That was the best chocolate cake I
have ever had.
